Fairwood Lift Station, Hot Springs, AR Pictured here is a large regional lift station we worked on for the City of Hot Springs, AR under the direction of Engineers’ Inc. also of Hot Springs, AR. Mr. Jerry Williams, P.E. performed the necessary design for the city to construct a major sanitary lift station that would serve the western portion of the city and surrounding county. The station flow rate was upgraded from 1200 GPM to 4000 GPM to handle this upgrade. The project consisted of replacing an aging canned wetpit-drypit pump station which required operators to enter the steel underground station enclosure to perform maintenance on the equipment. This design incorporates (2) Flygt 335 HP submersible pumps delivering the required flow. The control of the station is accomplished via the use of a Flygt MultiTrode MultiSmart pump controller. The controller is mounted in an Arc Flash designed control building manufactured by Starnet Technologies. The building and control design utilized requires no special equipment be worn by maintenance personnel to avoid the danger of an electrical explosion. The station is backed up by a Godwin DBS natural gas fired pump unit. It operates independently from the city’s power grid and is capable of handling the entire station design flow should the need arise for it to do so. BRYANT, AR SELECTS FLYGT MULTITRODE FOR PUMP STATIONS
The city of Bryant, AR recently awarded a contract to Jack Tyler Engineering, Inc. to provide MultiTrode MultiSmart controllers for all of their lift stations and to monitor those stations with PumpView, which is a Web-based SCADA system. PumpView is considered to be the next generation in control and monitoring software. PumpView carries out many of the functions of traditional telemetry without any of the risks or costs associated with traditional radio based telemetry systems. All of this capability is provided at a much lower cost to the city. The backbone of the system is the MultiSmart Controller, which is an Intelligent Pump Station Manager. MultiSmart is the new face of technology for monitoring and control of Water and Wastewater Pump Stations.
